I've been doing a research on google and yahoo! for quite a time now and I have found out an interesting fact. The search engine overlord Google is gradually declining and yahoo seems to be taking it place. When compared the results of both engines for the same keyword, I found that the results yahoo served were much more useful than what google did.

From hours of google search, all I got was some spam sites and some unrelevant sites. But Yahoo! seems to have found what I want. I've been using Google for 4 years now and the quality of the engine is declining(this is what I feel). Even if I've loyalty to google as I had many years of using it, I want quality as I dont wanna waste a lotta time in my busy schedule. Yahoo! gives me the right results in time. While google makes me search for hours and hours and still I would have grave face.

I think google is paying more attention to its other products like adsense, adwords, gmail, maps etc that its neglecting their best tech gadget, google search. This is very sad and I think if google doesnt figure out a way to dodge this, Yahoo! will rule the internet !!

Google are paying no more attention now to their other products than they ever have.
They have always used a 70, 20, 10 ratio for thier products.
70% on search, 20% on other products and 10% on developing new ideas.

In my experience google deliever far better results than yahoo or msn.

The webmaster community have shifted towards Yahoo but not the real users. I have a website dedicated to application development and C, C++ programming and that has max users from google only.

MSN normally gets me more updated, better results but I always use Google first, just habit and an habit is hard to break, so I guess Google will live on forever due to it been an Habit!

I didn't mean what traffic I get, What I meant is for the real world users (i.e. apart from webmasters) people still use the google more than other SE. You can say that google has lost the search traffic but they are able to maintain 70% of total search share for quite some time.

Every stat I've seen for quite some time has shown Google growing in market share over all other engines. Maybe I just missed it, but I've yet to see anything say they were losing people.

Myself I prefer Google, though Yahoo would be my second choice and I've been meaning to give Ask more of a look. In truth I can find what I want at just about any search engine. A lot of the trick in getting relevant results in understanding how best to formulate your query and some of the advanced operators you can use with the seach engine.

Very rarely do I not find relevant results at any search engine.
