I'm sorry if this is a not-so-smart question but how do I find out my site's google rank?

Go to Google's Services and Tools page and get their toolbar.

Install it and presto, you'll be addicted.

Did you mean actual Ranking in Google or your Page Rank (not the same thing)?

Well I'm not sure. Maybe you can clarify the difference for me.

I hear other people talk about how their google rank went down. (for their site) Does that help?

aHA! I read your post to quickly.

PageRank, aka: PR, is Goolge's measure of the importance of a page. It is very much talked about, written about, speculated about, and thought about. It's worshiped by some and hated by others. You too can easily become neurotic with us by downloading Google's toolbar on their Services and Tools page.

Page rank, not capitalized and two words, is where a page ranks in the search resultes; #1, #10, or whatever. Of course, this is talked about because the closer you are to the #1 position, the more traffic you get.

This concludes today's obsessive complulsive explanation.

I am new to these forums, and an intermediate web designer.
I had a question on PR checking.

What do you type in to check your PR? Your company name?
The basic items you sell?
Ect ect ect

What is the standard used that gives people their PR?

I typed in my company name and came up with a 5. From the other posts I guess that is pretty good

If you download the Google toolbar, you can type in the url of a site and see the PR immediately.

That computer has AVG installed as it's anti-virus software. For spyware, I have Ad-Aware and SpyBot:Search and Destroy installed on it.

I got a new monitor for my computer so my brother can go back to using that piece of crap now.

Anyways, my site has a google rank of 5, is that good and how do I increase that?

That is very good my website for now has a pr of 0 just started though. Should be up soon. A pr of 5 could get you some paid ads on your main page in my opinion.

I know they pay well for their adsense program
yahoo gets a 9/10

I'm new to google I got real interested in them when I found my favorite phrase

free ways to advertise on the internet

brings me up in the #1 spot and that phrase is not in my meta tags and not a phrase on my site

BTW josh you get a 5/10 that's good it's closer to yahoo then me
