How long on average before a site gets out of the sandbox? The other engines are finding back links but Google has none.

Site is only 4 weeks old am I just not being patient?

google wont display any backlinks until there is a backlink update, Nobody knows when the next one is, they happen about 4 times a year. And even then they wont show all of your backlinks.

But they factor in all of yourbacklinks now anyway, They just don't let you know that they know about your backlinks until the BL update.

The sandbox is one of those misunderstood and SEO-created myths that is nothing more than the natural progression of business. The more you get the word out about it, the more people will want to look for and find it.

Think about it this way: if you were a mom-and-pop department store that started last week, would you take on Wal-Mart? Once you understand the answer to that question, you'll understand the myth of the sandbox.

Good sites get found quickly under a number of keywords and phrases and then get more as time goes on.

The problem is that Yahoo! and MSN are relatively easy to manipulate by comparison (well at least before Windows Live! search...jury's still out on that one IMHO.)

In other words, relax, be patient, don't expect overnight get-rich-quick results, build a good site, and it'll all come naturally.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I have been a victim of hearing about it. I know I have backlinks on Google just from seeing the alerts when a link is found.

They just never show under backlink info.

Matt Cutts has said that although google have no effect called "the sandbox" there are effects caused by the google algo that may cause some sites too experience an effect identicle to what webmasters have been calling the sandbox.

The sandbox effect in itself has nothing to do with getting indexed, its just a process that all new websites must go through to show there relevancy to the content of there web page and the pages linking to it. If you play your cards right and get relevant links and provide fresh content, basically not a bunch of misspelled garbage on your pages with useless info, you will be off to a great start. The number one thing to do is be patient and get trusted links and don't link to a page that has more than 20-30 links on its links pages. Or you could make one of those awsome adsense sites that are really loaded with good content! Google loves em
