Only if the "main page" has a higher PR value than the other pages.

Home pages don't have special weight, but since normally they get more traffic than other pages, anyone who's trying to get a link will prefer if it's from the home page that's all.

Links from main page bears real weight when targetting the google algorithm. But, its not that effective as high PR links from related sites though (so obvious !!).
