Considering geting a quote to pay for keyword placement and google rank improvement ... any one got any decent companies you have used or offer good quotes?

I suggest you don't trust just anyone's opinion. Some users have their own companies and won't think twice about recommending themselves. If you ask me you should look for one yourself and check out their previous work as well as what kind of services comes with the contract. And even better idea would be to hire your own SEO expert as they are more personal and may even offer to walk you through the steps making it easier for you do it on your own next time.

Are you talking about Google adwords?

can't help too much, but I would remind you to ask for a test period before you commit any money to paid link placement. If your SEO tells you to pay another website for a link then ask the website if you can try the link free for a week to see if it is worth what they are asking. An obviously larger site may not want to do this but mid grade ones should understand your skepticism.

And do get them to commit to a week or they may only give you their best day or two of the week and tell you that you can expect that everyday.

If the SEO tells you it is solely for page ranking (the other guy is really high or something) then skip it, you should be able to generate traffic and page rank with one investment, not settle for half.
