Hi there

When I google my site, I get the below search result. How can I change the text that is shown as I summary to my site ? Rather than just showing "Copyright 2005-2006...ThatsmyStub.com Site design etc......"

www.thatsmystub.com

Many thanks

Get more inbound links to it so that Google can crawl and reindex your site.

The last cache date I see is for November 14 and the site looks a lot different:

Google either take the text from text on the page, Your meta description or your description in DMOZ.
If you don't want them to use your DMOZ descriptipon use the noodp meta tag. Apart from that you don't really have a choice where they get the text from.

I think your referring to this
<meta name="description" content="What you want Google to say when the search is for your site, not the content in your site">

lets say the search is for MSNBC, and they place a meta description tag, then the caption is what you make it, but lets say you search for "election coverage" and MSNBC is a result. then the caption will focus on the reason MSNBC is a result.

I would only use the description tag on your main page, but you can play with it.

i dont think thats there is a anything wrong with meta description on inner pages if they are relevant and properly written.

jbladeus is right. You can use meta description tags on your inner pages just fine as long as the description is right.

I would, however, add one tag:
<meta name="robots" content="noodp" />

This will keep any DMOZ descriptions out of the equation.

its usually meta tag content as outlined above - OR - the description the ODP gives your website in its directory.

Looks like Google didn't read your meta description tag or you don't have a such tag. Are you using table to layout your pages? And then you merge or split the cells? If no meta description tag, goolge will look in the page for texts. And texts not in tables, forms, etc will be their first choice to be showed in serps.

The snippet shown as a description will change with the query it is found for. If the phrase is found on the page a snippet of text from around the phrase is used.

As you would be looking for thatsmystub it finds the copyright information.
