That shows you the importance of anchor text in your back links. Webmasters should not be chasing PR, they should be seeking the proper anchor text in their back links.

That's been around for years, dude.

Personally, I think it's kept there as something of a red herring and a leftover from the days when anchor text and PR were the dominant factors.

Not to be twit, but can U explain this?

Are you saying some results are Pre Big Daddy (Florida/Hilltop) and others are not or something? I am trying to sort out what that meant...

thanks

It means that it was one of those things that was so highly publicized at the time that Google left it there as something of a PR (PUBLIC RELATIONS, NOT PAGERANK) move.

As sandbox has demonstrated, people still talk about it. So it still gives Google some love from time to time.

The other angle behind it could be that it allows big G to filter out those who still use this as an example to link drop, exchange, and attempt to gain rank for other keywords and phrases by similar means rather than worrying about their own sites. In other words, they leave it there as something of a means to weed out the shortcut-takers.

Purely speculative on my part, though, and I'll admit that.

Interesting at least..

A 'honey pot' of sorts???

As for the SB.. are ye not a believer in the mythical beasts of TBPR and the SB?? I am not a big fan of either myself... BHatters can get out of the SB in a flash he he..

I posted this the other day on Google Bombing/Bowling.. May as well as well add it

Quote:
Wow, ‘sandboxes’ to Google Bowling/Bombing – quite the journey

Anyways, with the GB stuff, the trick is, a site would need to satisfy MORE than ONE infraction or ‘red flag’ as folks call them. A clean site that is GB’d will not suffer any ill effects. A nifty fail safe huh?

When you get ;

Link Spamming
Cloaking
Duplicate content (aggregate)
KW Stuffing
Linking out to bad neighborhoods (known networks)
Owner profiles

.. and the like, together in a profile, then things can start to happen. When so called ‘Black Hat’ (search engine opportunists?) go about their business they need many of these areas to be successful. It is about a quick buck, not long drawn out building of quality sites and back links

So simply trying to tank the competition with ONE area (link spamming or targeted text links etc..) will not likely have the desired effect

Not to say the BH community doesn’t have it’s ways of dealing with the competition, it is usually another BH they are *****ed at… and the tactics have little to do with SEO so-to-speak….

I heard rumors of Micheal Moore's website having something to do with the backlinks pushing GB to be #1 for Miserable failure. Fairly certain the good ol'boy has been #1 for failure for 3 or more years.
