I allways think that google penalized duplicate content.Until now.

That's a great article thanks for sharing it, I always new that google did not penalize people for duplicate content.

Is the same true for duplicate content for articles posted on article submission websites? I have read a lot of posts saying that if you submit the same content article (and even if it has some minor changes) to several websites it will ignore all but one of them. The one it sees the backlink of may not even have the highest PR.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.

That post was written in 2006 and still when I login to my webmaster tools I see tens of duplicate meta and duplicate title tag issues..
Google always says to remove them if i'm not wrong?

Great information. The blog is very informative at clearing up "The Google Penalty."

I think it's doesn't matter to use duplicate contents. Internet is full with duplicate contents, i believe google won't banned them all.

I realy aint sure, but after rewriting some content on my mebsite, "first copyed and now unique content" Google rewarded me from page 3 and 4 rankings to page 1 and 2 rankings.
So i did it to my second site too and yesss from page 4, 5 and 6 to page 1 and 2 for allmost all of my targeted keywords.

This al happened within 3 days after changing my content.

I really do not believe. How Google can give such a relaxation.
Further even if they allow us to present duplicate content then would the results be fair, accurate and reliable. I love this restriction from Google. Just start thinking from our top competitors' perspective, we present a very high quality content on our site after much research and it took a lot of our time and energies and a competitor comes and copy that without any effort, so how panic it would be for us to face this situation.... so i think this restriction is in our benefit.

Are you kidding me? All these years I have been mislead? And link building isn't optimizing? I don't get it. Haven't we all been told how important incoming links are for website optimization? (part of optimization). This is not good news to me. I think people with duplicate content should be penalized.

There is no penalty for duplicate content yet recently it put me in the supplementary results on my blog occultblogger.com for duplicate metatags.. I did not notice them till to late now i have to wait until half my site comes back out of it..
It happened when i changed themes, and the theme had the same metatags on all pages..not good..

Issue all fixed now, i just have to wait..

Thanks for sharing this interesting topic If there is duplicate content in your site then its very difficult to get ranking in search engines and search engine can penalize that site too.
