Maybe you should have actually READ it rather than just posting for a link!!

If you are posting one article to a number of article repository sites, and that article contains a link to your site, will Google's duplicate content filter mean that only one of those links will count?

I have seen recently the emergence of a lot of "article spinner" websites which take one article and produce several variations for you to post so as to avoid your links disappearing.

Does anyone have experience of this happening to them?

Also I notice this piece is over 2 years old. Has Google changed it's view on duplicate content since then?

I have an ecommerce furniture store and have several products that fall into different categories. Does cross-categorizing products count as duplicate content?

It’s hard not to duplicate content to some extent with list and services.

Thanks!

I just wish they'd do a little more to penalize those **** bloggers that steal content from other sites, and then before you know it the same article/video is on 100+ websites.

Doesn't matter HOW many times we tell people, they still think there is a duplicate content penalty. And then you get those folks who "advise" people to change their articles for each directory and on, and on...

People think they know a LOT of things about Google that they have no clue about. This is one of them.

If our website has the duplicate contents of another one, the issue is our site will always down in SERP compared to the source. So it discourage the habit of copy paste.

Well that is surprising to know that Google will not penalize such duplicated content.

How about Copy Scape?

You probably need to understand what duplicate content actually is first.

Duplicate content is the exact same content at two (or more) unique URIs.
Having the same product in two or more categories is not necessarily duplication.

If the product always has "site.com/productpage.ext?product=123" (or the static looking equivalent) then that is NOT duplicated.

duplication is when
"site.com/category-a/productpage.ext?product=123"
and
"site.com/category-b/productpage.ext?product=123"

all lead to the same page.

Does anybody have an update on this? That was 2006. Is there any update as to Google's new policy towards duplicate content?
