depends what kind of update your talking about. toolbar page rank updates about every 4-6 months.

the engines are always being tweaked. but occasionally google does huge algorithm changes. if you read the forums much youll hear people talk about them.

its tough to say, google does what it wants when it wants.

1 year ago , it was a quarterly update. Now its difficult to say. I would say every 2 months there are 1 - 2 updates. (major and minor changes in pr and rank)

Backlinks: whenever they feel like it. There's no rhyme or reason.

Ranking: it changes pretty much slightly on a constant basis, and once in a while an algo change will cause some results to shake up. (The usual cause, however, is sites that are trying to do something outside of the guidelines.)

If you want to see one or both go up, the best thing you can do is actually to stop worrying about it. Work on your site, make it as good as you can, and the rest stems from that.

I take it you have no idea what EverFlux is. Google is constantly updating rankings 24/7.

Pure Rubbish.

Robots automatically follow and index every link on a site and not one major engine even looks at the revisit one. Adding those tags does nothing but add more noise to the page.

Yahoo does follow Robots.txt rules... Google does not.

They aren't talking about robots.txt, they are talking about meta tags.

Like WilliamC says, the default is that robots do index pages and do follow links, making the "index,follow" redundant.

The "revisit-after" bit is to tell robots not to come back for a specific period of time e.g. don't crawl my page more than once every 2 weeks. It isn't an instruction to make them come back more often.

Not to mention the revist-after tag was actually brought into being by a little known search engine long ago and not a single other engine to my knowledge ever used it. And if I recall correctly, the engine that brought it into being is not even around any longer.
