Is it possible to be ranked well for less searched keywords and sandboxed for more popular keywords. I have a new site that was indexed and ranked (# 4 in Google) within a couple of weeks for a less popular keyword, but I cant find it under more popular keywords.

Any thoughts on this?

Different phrases have different levels of competition. A particular page on your site might rank #1 for "Welcome to XXX Ltd" but rank nowhere for "viagra" because of the fierce competition for the latter.

Depend on your targeted keywords competition. Competitive keywords needs time and effort.

the more competitive your keywords are.. the more patience and effort you have to provide for it.

Hi,

To get out of the sandbox in case you are you need to get links regularly. Try to get 5-10 links a day at least and you never get sandboxed.

If a certain keyword has few comeptition you can rank high for that keyword fast.

i agree with princess06, you need to give it some time - a lot of it

that is correct the sandbox is a series of filters. as you go they remove filters. it can take anywhere for 3 to 6 month to get out of the sandbox.
