Hi All,
How can you promote your web on Google? Do you have to have their ads posted on your site to get more links, or is there a submission form that would do that?

I mean why a site like (or keyword for that matter): Office, would pop up Microsoft Office Web Site in Google? (I understand that it is MS after all, but still I would like to know how you can generate more links and traffic)

Thanks!!!

I hope, soon we will have a stick thread for SEO basics. I think, may be this is funny, to be a good SEO Expert you have to be a good searcher. Ofcourse to find information about SEs and SEO.

Well to get your ranking you have to optimize your site so at to the statergies & requirements of google or any similar search engine. I would give you this article to understand SEO better.

Written By: Jack Reider

There is a ton of materials on the internet about how to bring web traffic to your site, but starting off with a good foundation make it all much easier.

Lets say you want to open a portal for online casinos or sports betting sites. The first thing you need to do is to come up with a domain name.

The Domain name is your URL or Universal Resource Locator. This is what people have to type in after http://www to get to your website. If you have a URL that is a popular phrase or grouping of words that are related to the topic of your site, you have a much better chance of it coming up high on a search. So if you are a gambling portal web site and your URL is onlinecasino.com you have a better chance of people finding it when looking for online casinos then if it were called bobscasinowebsite.

The next thing is that the content of your site must be related to the purpose of your site. If your site is for the purpose of making money then you have something to sell. Maybe you are trying to bring business to a casino website then the content on your site should be about things relative to gambling. Put casino reviews, tips on different types of casino games and whatever else you think may be interesting to someone doing a search on casinos and gambling.

Make sure your site is easy to navigate. If it is too hard to get around then even if it is top of a Google search no one will ever use it. Each page should cover one topic, and it should not be crowded with banners and advertisements. If on your site you have videos then keep them all together and break them into relative areas of interest. If you have some videos of people getting caught cheating in a casino create a section for casino related videos and put them all in that section, this will make it very simple to search thru all your content to find what it is your visitors are looking for.

News relevant to your site is also a great way to bring in traffic. Many people nowadays get their news online and not just world news. Maybe someone wants to read about the gambling bill that was passed in congress recently to ban money transfers to and from online casinos, a great advantage to having news on your page is that if it is well written and the topic of the article is a hot topic other news sources like yahoo and Google may take your article and put a link to it from their site. This would give you thousands of hits, and that is the goal.

The last tip I can give you for building a search engine friendly site is to make sure to add new content every day, it does not matter if this content is a how to article a news article, pictures or anything else but adding new content daily will increase your page rank and increase the chances of coming up when someone is doing a web search.

If you incorporate all these tips when building your website I can guarantee it will make your job much easier, no one wants to build a site and then find out they need to star over from scratch, because ever day offline is potential money lost.

You can submit your website at www.google.com/addurl.htm. But this will not help too much, to increase traffic, it's an issue of SEO.

Optimized your site by searching for the right keyword to target
And when you finally decide on the keyword create your site content using the targeted keyword.

Then try to get more quality backlinks

To get backlinks you can post to forums, submit your site to web directory, create an article and submit it to article directory, link exchange with trusted and related site.

definately read some of the intro seo stuff on this forum - this is a great forum filled with people. you definately don't want to submit your site to google - you let google find your site... by having it linked to by other sites...

hi

one of the best ways to get a quick result for website submission is to put up a blog and then put some new content on it daily form an article site. then place a link at the start and end of your blog to your main website and also place a link to your blog on your main website.

in this way you achieve two tasks at the same time. your blog will automatically send a ping to the search engines to tell them you have new content and it will also tell the search engines where your main site is by following the link to it.

you can get a free blog from google http://www.blogger.com/ and they are easy to set up..

I gotta ask and I hope its related, do sitemaps.xml really help you to get listed in google, cos that might be an option? Hopefully someone has a fundamental answer to this - even if it is yes or no.

I also went through that stage that I didn't know anything about SEO.

Well you can submit your site in Google by going to http://google.com/addurl. Then you can start exchanging links with other related sites (or maybe unrelated). Google has a bot which automatically visit sites to index.

I have submitted my site a week ago to google and it is still not indexed. Probably they fear to loose in the page range war

But it showed up in MSN after 2 days... No idea why, but some experts are stating it is better not to submit it at all and let THEM find You
