saud are a lot of the pages duplicates of each other. Google is moving duplicates to the supplemental index or removing them completely.

Also if you've engaged in a lot of link exchanges with untrustworthy and unrelated sites Google won't crawl as frequently or as deeply and you'll probably end up with less indexed pages.

saud here's a the Indexing Timeline post from Matt Cutts where he talks about Google crawling sites less frequently if they are exchanging links with unrelated or spammy sites.

You should be able to judge the quality of the other sites to know if they might be considered spammy in some way. Unrelated sites are simply sites that have a topic that isn't related to yours.

If you're searching out places to get links from based only on PR you might be linking to unrelated sites. It's better to link to and from sites that are about similar topics as your site.
