If you're really having that much of a problem, try submitting your site into their index. People don't actually do that, but apparently it's a better option than what you've been doing so far. This is kind of funny actually, but if you Google "Google Webmaster Tools" that will take you right where you need to be.

I'm not seeing anything specifically in your code that would prevent being indexed. What I am seeing is a lack of other sites linking to your site. Search engines follow links so you need to have other sites linking to yours.

The best way to get indexed is to let the search engines find you by getting other sites to link to yours. You don't need to submit your site to a search engine, though you can add a Sitemap through Google Webmaster Central. You'll need an account first and you'll need to verify your site with them.

The easiest thing to do is add a forum signature with links back to your site and then start posting. Within a week or so you should see at least one page of your site in the index and then give it a little more time for the search engines to crawl and index the rest of the site.

I really get the idea that links are how most or almost all sites get into the Google index.

But so there's no confusion, a Google Webmaster account is free, and it's pretty easy to set up. But as vangogh says you have to verify your site, and this is a good thing because they really give you a lot of information, that you probably don't want others to have.

I found the "add a meta tag" option was the easiest. Just make sure to remove it after you verify - the tag has a unique key that identifies you.

Learning Newbie I think we're in complete agreement here. In fact a couple of hours ago I saw something indicating that if you do submit a Sitemap to Google Webmaster Central your site might get indexed faster.

Of course that's only going to work for Google. Ideally just get some links on sites that are crawled frequently. Fortunately you're on one of those sites now. Add a signature with a link or two back to your site and start posting. In a short amount of time the search engines will find your site.

Even if you don't submit a Sitemap to Google there are still good reasons to sign up for Webmaster Central. In case anyone hasn't heard they're now showing you your backlinks. Not the few they show with the link: command, but most all that they know about.

Searching your site shouldn't have any effect on how often googlebot visits. It's probably more coincidence than anything. It's also important to know that just because googlebot visits your site doesn't mean it's indexed anything. It just means it visited.
