failed cache queries simply mean the cache server that responded to that query hasn't synched up. It will fix itself in a few days.

I'm in the same boat as you at the moment, trying to get listed in the major search engines etc. All the advice above rings true - backlinks are the key. Though from all the research I've done, good quality backlinks are of paramount importance - ie. instead of a simple click here link, the anchored link to your site should be something like "Click here for kids activities in Liverpool" with the phrase "kids activities in Liverpool" being the actual link to your site. Google will place added importance if the link text matches the title and keywords of your site - especially if the link comes from a related and higher ranked site.
