Even a novice can tell looking at that it isn't done by any hacker. I mean look at the design and content. These are not the type of defacement pages they put.
And most of the times the index page is replaced while in this case whole blog has been removed. In this case the attacker was able to put up a index.html page. It would have been a lot more realistic if there is a index.php page instead of index.html
Lastly, it is just based on my experience. It could be possible that his blog has been really hacked.
