Lately I've been having a chuckle whenever I look at my site stats and see that a search for "t" has brought visitors to my blog. According to the stats by feedburner today I've had 8 hits.

Out of curiosity I searched for "t" and didn't find my blog in the first ten pages so I just stopped digging. Are there real people doing single letter searches and going through hundreds of results just seeing what comes up? Or are these bots or something else.

it might just be the way feedburner is reporting things. I've noticed in Awstats it'll break up a word that has a single quote so "can't" might show up as "can t" as though it were two words.

I'll bet something like that might be happening with what you're seeing.

Thanks for the response. I was figuring that maybe I used the letter "t" a lot and the density of the letter on my blog was doing it. I just found this other blog that was talking about single letter searches and someone in the comments said basically what you said.

If you're curious

when I backtrack the hits in site stats I get this page
http://www.google.com/search?q=t

Now I'm entering random letters to see what comes up in the search results. I think I'm addicted to single letter searches.

Interesting. I get some clicks from bizarre search terms, and stuff that I'm on about page 762 in the SERPs for. Have always wondered about this, and naturally thought it must be the bots' fault.

And of course what you see on page 762 might well be page 1 or 2 of some other DC or in someones personalised results.
