I'm in the process of analyzing why my Google traffic has suddenly dipped 50%. I'm still being indexed, main page has a PR7, but search results now stink. When I do a "related" command in Google, I get a bunch of sites that have nothing to do with my site. I think this is because in my scramble to get links and improve my search results, I didn't really pay attention to the linking site's content. I'm thinking this is why my results are suffering as no major changes to the site have occurred preceeding the drop.
Would it be better NOT to have links in from sites that are unrelated or is it more important to have the link in no matter what? Any ideas for changing/effecting how a site is viewed?
