I understand their whole PageRank system, however I feel that there MUST be a way for my site to do better.

Here's why:

I own a Macinitosh Repair company in a suburb of Nashville, Tennessee. There are about 5 or 6 other companies in Nashville that do Mac repair also. Yet, if you enter the keywords "nashville mac repair" my site isn't in the top 10 PAGES, much less the top 10 sites, listed. Here's the kicker, the links that come in ahead of me, maybe 2 of them are for companies in Nashville that DO Mac repair, the rest are old articles that just happen to have those 3 keywords somewhere in them!

So, am I screwed without all the cross-linking that PageRank apparently depends upon?

Thanks in Advance

The key to success in Google is in bound links. You need lots of them. If they contain your keywords “nashville mac repair”…even better.

I found a pretty decent place to get non-reciprocal links is www.ipagerank.com . The site is new, but I’ve received a few quality links to my site and have been able to give a few quality links in return.

That's just one place to look, there are thousands of directories and other places you can submit your site as well.

^^^ you need inbound links from established sites to get your PR higher, and get your spot higher in google searches for the term you want

also - is your prefered search term in the title of your index page, and in the meta tags??

might also want to try to specificly advertise on mac sites (that are not storefronts, just info or mac related sites/forums) to help boost traffic)

If a site removes your link, you lose "credit" for that link. Depending on your circumstances, it could result in a drop in your pagerank.

You need to get links from sites that will link to you using the anchortext "Nashville Mac Repair" or whatever your keywords are. Better to have an anchortext link with your keywords from a low PR site than a "regular" link from a high PR site.

This isn't the right subforum for that.

It was solely in response to the discussion. I was just offering the guy an opportunity to get a backlink. Considering that you only have 2 posts to this forum, I'd think it a bit premature to be slapping hands. Just my observation...
