My home page dropped from PR 4 to PR 2 in the last week, but my traffic is up by around 50%, when you think about PR, every page has a PR, and my home page is not really a landing page, but the other pages so OK in SE's co they are getting organic traffic

Just wanted to share that

Congrats on the traffic - as you just learned, it's what really matters.

Pr doesn't directly affect traffic/rankings, and vice versa.
A decrease in PR doesn't necessarily mean poor traffic.

congrats with the traffic btw.

PR is somewhat of an artificial way of rating a site. Raw traffic stats are much more useful. It is completely possible to for a site to have higher PR and lower traffic than another site. Here's how google explains how pagerank works: http://www.google.com/technology/

Glad to hear your traffic is up by the way.

charlesqan - its the PR of my home page thats down, i never bother checking the other 30,000 pages on my site, and its those pages that feature in SERPS not the home page, so I'm not worried really

that's the main goal mate, sites benefit on traffic (browsers of you site!), 95% of mine came from organic SE, i can say somewhat productive!

PR and traffic are usually correlated. Since your homepage pr went down and the inner ones could be having higher pr.

I would say PR plays an imortant role for search engine ranking but not an important role for traffic.

toolbar PR does NOTHING for ranking or traffic

REAL PR is simply one factor in 100+ at Google ONLY

Google is in the middle of altering its whole PR system. I look after some 100 sites, PR is fluctuating madly.
