What would be the consequences for my web if I submitted a link to a directory and that directory is faking his PR4?
I mean, would my PG be calculated as if I am linking from a real PG4 site or it is calculated taking the real PR from the linking site? Does Google penalize if you are linked from fake PR sites?

You don't have much control over who links to you, so you won't be published unless most of your links come from spam neighborhoods.

How is PR being "faked?" That sounds like the kind of deceptive practice that I would try to avoid any connection with anybody who does it.

PageRank really isn't important unless you sell links, and those are going to stop carrying PR benefit. So I really wouldn't worry about this. What's truly important is building a site that people will like using, and then getting publicity for it, that will drive the type of people you want to look at it.

What the meaningless green bar display says and the REAL PR are two entirely different things.

The question I would ask is, if he's faking a PR4 and not a PR7, is it worth it at all?

I mean, if I'm 15 and I get a fake ID for 20, what the hell good does that do me? Yeah, I'm closer to 21, but I'm not there.

If he's faking a 4, what's the point? You could links from lots of fours. I want links from 6's and 7's. His actual PR might even be a 4 by now, who knows.
