This is the strangest thing and If anyone can give me some insite I'd apprecaite it.
On May 07 my page view were about 374 for the day
The day before I advertised my site for 6 months on usedtoronto.com with a nice banner and link to my website
The next day my page views were down to 3 and today they are at 21 which is the highest since May 07.
I'm upset! What could possibly be the problem here or is it possible my page views were not accurate before.
I read somewhere that google doesn't like paid links but would consider this more advertising than paid links.

You won't get penalised by Google for buying links. The worst that will happen is that Google doesn't count them (in my opinion).

Were you getting visitors around the 374 mark consistently? If so, do you know where they were coming from?

My page views were 250-325 consistently before that and I figured they went up to 374 because of the advertising. I don't know specifically who page viewers were exept that they came from my links and google,yahoo searches

Have you checked your google indexed pages? That is quite a drop.

My guess is your stats haven't been updated? That's the most likely reason you'd see a 90 % or more drop in traffic. Especially if it comes from several different sources.

It's also possible you've fallen in some key phrase rankings, but I'm guessing less than half your traffic came from the search engines, so that would only explain part of it.

Review all available reports on your site traffic and performance.

The other angle is that your site stats may have been updated and more bots may be detectable. This would lead to an apparent decrease because what was thought to be regular traffic is now known to be bot traffic.

You need to start working backwards.

Start with the site logs and check if the SERPs/links that visitors arrived from still exist.

BTW we can't see your site stats.

ok. i did check to see if all my pages were being indexed and nothing has changed there. thanks for all you help guys.
my numbers are now climbing again but not quite back to where they were. i'm sure hoping that this is just an update.

There is one other possibility that I only just thought of...Internet traffic in general tends to go down as the temperature in North America goes up and people start playing outside more.

You may just be experiencing a summer slowdown.
