I know it has recently updated the PR. When will be the next? Where can I find such information?

Internally it updates it constantly. Toolbar updates tend to happen about every 2-4 months, Though it could be in the next 5 minutes or a year from now. There is no timetable of when they are due to happen.

Why? It's just an approximation, as st0x pointed out. It means absolutely nothing other than to people who obsess over it.

It seems like every few weeks.

as i observer, google PR updated every 4 months.

Actually I think it's about once a month...google can get a bit moody just before the update and sometimes throws a tantrum, other times just a bit weepy or quiet depending on the level of estrolinks rushing around in it's system. It's best to just be understanding at these times...

Little do people know that it's actually the Google Gnomes who update the toolbar PR. They are a cranky bunch though being that they work in the side of a mountain with no air conditioning. There is a trick to getting them to update your PR early though...

First, you have to learn the Gregorian Chant on this sacred parchment
Second, you must have a friend/spouse or significant other pour hot oil (only to the point of pain, not serious burning) on your scalp while you perfectly perform the Gregorian chant (remember, no squealing, this will ruin the effect).
Third, and this is the most important step, you must post a video of yourself doing this complete procedure on Google Video (how else will they know you did it?). Name the video Gregorian Gnome Google PR Dance Chant and wait for your PR to update before your very eyes.
