For one, nobody outside Google knows the algorithm, and if they did, Google tends to make small changes constantly. So they can make a prediction based on what they've noticed about older versions of the algorithm, just like I can predict what tomorrow's lottery numbers will be.
And PageRank really only does one thing for you: let you sell links. Google is putting an end to that, so it's really a moot point.
What does matter is traffic, and how many people are doing what you set up your web site to convince them to do.
