Just wondering how does Google look at .swfs? I know they're not very search engine friendly at all, is there a way to make them a little more social?

They simply don't.
Java applets, activeX, and flash elements are excluded from the scrapping

I have heard that SE can actually follow links from within swf files

Big companies (and small ones) usually create a flash site and a html equivalent so that search engines have something to index.

Some other solutions involve the <noscript> </noscript> where you put some content for SE to index.

I have done it so the search engines don't index my .swf files. I don't want people to find them and just go straight to the .swf file as it will mean that I will not earn from the advertising shown on my site, but will still use up alot of bandwidth.
