From what I could ascertain from Google's adsense listed conditions of use, one would need to set up a seperate adsense account for each domain/site you own. Does anyone think this would also be the case with subdomains? Let's say I have adsense account set up for mydomain.com - so would I need to set up another account for subdomain.mydomain.com? Or would it be feasible to set up the same code to display adsense within the subdomain as I have with the domain?

Last time I looked Google were encouraging adsense users to register once then use the same account for as many domains as they liked.

Why not use the channel feature to track the clicks fromt the different subdomains?

Publishers for Google were all told to combine their accounts into one account which became effective last April 15th. The use of the Channel feature enabled them to better track their ad campaigns for multiple domains. This would include sub-domains also.

Once you have a Publisher account, you can put Google ads on any site you wish at any time you wish. You do not need prior approval to do so either.

If you have more than one account now and they discover it, you may run the risk of losing all accounts.

I heard they are very 'selective' of their sites.
What would this mean?
I am afraid to even apply for this right now - at least until I implement my new design, for fear they might deny my application.
Don't want to mark my site forever - I think I'll wait til itr looks better

I am not sure about the adsence thing, but I know google is not a fan of subdomains. They have always been against them. People use to load subdomains with keywords, then just forward them t the main site. Google didn't like this. Sorry that was kind of off track. I don't know anything about adsence and keywords.

I don't think they work on sub domains....

To much minipulation of topic serving since you can create any url you wish...

most of there serving algo is upon domain name...

keyword.yourdomain.

Google doesn't like that.

GoogleAds work on sub-domains. They do not work on files/pages/directories that are blocked with a 'disallow' in your robots.txt file though -- that should be obvious why. As long as the page is crawlable so it can be indexed -- so can you put an ad onto the same page and have it deliver context sensitive ads.

The algo does not any more penalize a sub-domain name, any more than it would a directory name of the same title or a page name for that matter (if it penalizes it at all). Keyword rich names can and do appear in either, but there is no preference over one or the other in other words.

Joobz - there was a time when Google was pretty strict. That is how I eventually wound up with two accounts. I actually got tired of waiting for either a rejection or acceptance and recieved neither, so I submitted an app again. The second time I was accepted quickly and went on my merry way. Then about a month later, wham, in came the acceptance of the second account. Both were under the same domain name (just different email boxes). I have since combined both accounts under one (per their letter and TOS).

There are some standard quality guidelines, and you might be right about cleaning your site up and making it presentable. That might be a very good idea and I think you are right in doing so.

With that said though, once you are in ... you are in. And as long as you do not violate any TOS aggreements and keep it on the up and up, then you will be able to publish ads on any domain that you want. Even if the domain is not under the one that you applied under. They do visually check (human inspection) from time to time -- and you do not know when or how often.
