Hi,
We recently redesigned our site, I went to Google and using the allinurl: search checked all the pages indexed by google.
Now I have old and new pages indexed by Google which is no big deal but my new pages do not have the meta description tag on the google page under the title. It is showing the first text on the page instead. Any ideas???

Usually in the case of new pages (or a new site for that matter), they will index one page and snag all the links from it and put it into their queue after they verify that the page exists.

Most of the time those entries in the results will not even have the Page Title reflected in them, but only the Url of the page. The reason being is that the googlebot will just put in a page request to the Server to verify the file header information and not a request for the page itself.

The fact that the page shows up in the results is a good sign though. Googlebot will be back to index the page properly in the future.

Human visitors to youir site will see the first few lines of text but won't see your meta tags. Therefore page text (that includes the search term) is a much better thing for Google to list in their results than meta description. That's why they do it.

The old pages will take a little while to disappear from the index. Google's just hanging fire to make sure your site isn't temporarily broken. The old pages will disappear eventually.

Has anyone noticed that the time it takes to get a site in search engines has been getting progressivly quicker?

Yep ... there seems to be a bot war going on right now. There appears to be an escalation in spider activity from a variety of search engines right now -- this can only be good for the website owners and I for one am liking it.
