Dupe ref attributes in anchor tag

I could not find the answer anywhere so I post here...

I have seen people are using duplicate ref attributes in the anchor tag. Something like this.

<a href="..." ref="nofollow" ref="follow" ...>

I guess they are trying to make the link a follow link. Would that work?

I think the system automatically put ref="nofollow" in and someone added the follow after that.

Will Google read just the last instance of ref attributes?

Thanks!

It's not ref="nofollow". It's rel="nofollow". Unfortunately, they're spelled similarly. I haven't tried this before, but I would suspect the first rel would be used and any subsequent ones wouldn't matter.

That's something you're likely to have to test to find out, though.

What's gonna display if you load a page with code like this?

<img src="1.jpg" src="2.jpg" src="3.jpg">

Some browsers won't show anything, and some will just pick whichever source they feel like. Google, who knows?
