To be honest, I've given up on the whole reciprocal link thing and seem to be doing much better for it. 1st page listings on Google now.

Most of the sites that requested links were completely nothing to do with my site and half of them had link pages that were so hard to actually find it drove me mad!

Not sure what the official word is on this though...?

Nice bit of blogspam there but I am too tired to dance. THe truth is that reciprocal linking for the purpose of manipulating page rank is against google's TOS. Building a relationship with fellow sites and encouraging conversation is ENCOURAGED, what matters is the intention.

If people are just linking to get more traffic and it is of no benefit to their visitors then in my opinion they don't deserve a site in the first place.

And now you're going to spam a forum board with "an article that you read" that outlines how unfair big G is. It's pretty easy to read things that you wrote yourself. Cry us a freakin' river.

There have been a number of people who saw this coming (a few of them are even on this board). SEO-based link exchanges are nothing more than a cheap band-aid for sites that aren't built well enough to begin with. They're not done to "help Google" or to "make Google realize that my site is the most relavent" (why do spammers always misspell "relevant", anyway?) Now that big G has cracked down, all the link exchangers got caught with their pants down and now they're crying because their butt hurts from the spanking they got for being bad boys and girls.

To that, I say tethered swimming.
