"Until it stops".
It's a useless update anyway, so why do you care?

Well, traffic is obviously more important than PR and i know PR is not more important now as it was earlier, BUT getting an increase in PR will still good in terms of reliability for most of the people....who are away from these terms Good PR attract them and they prefer more sites which have good PR..isn't it?

'Most people' don't know what PR is.

External PageRank has nothing to do with reliability, and the only people who care about good external PageRank are the ones participating in the false link exchange/buy and sell marketplace.
Again, useless update.

Useless, but we all love that little green light in our browsers - I maintain that it really brightens up the toolbar from the usual boring grey colour

Wuhahaha, everyone loves that little green bar, especially if it grows longer and longer. Come on, admit it!

I brightened up my browser by removing the useless toolbar long ago.

I don't see how removing the little green button adds colour to a grey toolbar?!

It makes more room for the important and colourful things that portion of the toolbar might otherwise obscure.

Pagerank tends to be a side-effect of having a good site, so instead of just trying to focus on the green bar, people would be well advised to put their energy into constantly improving their site. Do that, and you'll still see that green bar grow.
Or you could buy a PageRank Pen. For $100 - the price of some links - you get a green permanent marker to fill in the bar chart on your toolbar. The only downside is, if you go to another web site, you'll experience "pr leak."

I never installed it in the first place. The toolbar does nothing for me, and I prefer to scroll less.

Well, do you like it if toolbar show you total gray for your site for long time or you will love to have minimum half part of toolbar shows in green..
Page rank is nothing, and higher rankings on Search Engines are more valuable than anything for site success but still PR matters.

How do you work that out? I want proof that PR does matter, not just some fluffy answer!

I know it doesn't matter, but after having a zero page rank since my site started in late March, I have to admit, I'm curios to see what it will be when it finally updates.
My site gets crawled by google daily and we have over 20,000 posts now so I'm assuming we should have some sort of rank.

Well a page's PR has nothing to do with how frequently it gets crawled or how many pages your site has, so these things won't affect it. It's dependent on the links to that page.

I thought it was a combination of a lot of factors. Where did you get that information? I thought the actual process was a well kept Google secret. Regardless, there area a lot of links back to the site as well.

It is a combination of a lot of factors, but links (quality ones) play an important part of that. I'm suspecting that links leaving the site play a part to do with things too - if your site has participated in link exchanges, this may not help ranking. Just a thought, but the new Google guidelines do state that unnatural link exchanges to manipulate pagerank will be "punished", for want of a better word

Reciprocal links doesn't really affect and boost your PR just as what wyhm mentioned. Having one way links and natural ones are better. A question though: Does paid links affect your PR as well?

They can, but only if they are from the right site. Google will probably punish your site or the site the link is from, if it finds they've been selling a lot of links, to cash in on PageRank. If it's from a small site with quality content and a reasonable rank, which doesn't have lots and lots of outgoing paid links or link exchanges, chances are your pagerank will improve. The focus of advertising of course should be on increasing quality traffic, not boosting pagerank

Where a page ranks is influenced by many factors, as whym says.
A page's pagerank (PR) is something else entirely and is affected by backlinks only.
