Because PageRank's Google doesn't exist. Google PageRank does, and it's updated all the time...just not the external and totally useless PageRank we all see.

When will anyone listen to ME? Google invented that little green bar in the toolbar for 2 possible reasons:

1) (Logical reason) To brighten up the green toolbar and the overused Google logo
2) (Conspiracy reason) Signals whether a site is ran by little green aliens, using Wi-Fi from the Hubble Space Station - beware of PR10 sites like w3c.org which seek to hypnotise humanity with web code (the reason why spending ages in front of a computer coding, can give you headaches....)

Man, I wish website owners would quit looking at that silly little green bar. Who cares about the PR of a site if it offers good content your visitors may be interested in? I know of so many websites that don't get 'shared' because other site owners base its content on PR - my two newest sites included.

kosmos_world the people who will only link to you if you also link back from a page with that has PRx generally aren't worth getting links from.

Link exchanges are not the way to the top of the Google SERPs. I'm not saying you can't exchange links with someone, but basing it solely on PR just gets you walking down the wrong path.

Pagerank is sooo useless!! I am so sick of websites quality being based on there pagerank. So many directories now even sort websites via there pagerank. I think we should stop worrying about it and instead worry about adding more quality content to our websites.

i couldnt agree more virus lol, the only problem is once you know how much of a waste of time pr chasing is, its a bit of a job convincing others that this is true lol !!

Then stop using silly link exchanges that will end up doing you no good in the end. This is a pretty easy problem to solve.

Like mentioned before, you might be better served waiting for an alien invasion as opposed to waiting for a PR update.

As for it's use.. it's used to track your web browsing habits.. just like any type of toolbar. No real conspiracy behind that! A lot of people I know don't even know what the heck it is, if that tells you anything.

If you are doing link exchanges now you must spend more time to have a look at number backlinks. PR 0 doesnt mean that the page has zero value. It can mean that it was created after last toolbar PR update.
