They say that Alexa is useful because they use it to compare there competitors traffic.

I'd have to say that you can only manipulate the statistics very little. What you can't fake is a site that gets NO traffic, all the way into the 100,000's of alexa... So there is meaning to the stat

You can't fake a horrible quality site up to a reputable PR rank of 2+ IMO because it's controlled by google.

Even though you can fidge the statistics, the statistics still determine the "popular, quality" sites from the "less traveled path, usually covered in litter"

The use of these statistics for internet marketers is vital. Most marketers don't understand that placing your link on other sites with better statistics can increase profits, traffic, customers, sales, etc.

Internet marketing is a game, and knowing the right places to put your pieces is a HUGE advantage. That's why I believe statistical information is vital to any online marketing effort.

Install the alexa ~~spyware~~ toolbar.

visit your own site several times a day. Set is as your "home" page

You could get family and friends to do the same.

Even better is to set up another computer, install the ~~spyware~~ toolbar and set up a sheduler event to open and close a browser window pointing to your site every 2 or 3 minutes.
Maybe set up a network of them and soon you'll be showing more Alexa traffic than Google gets.

Yeah very correct...it will only shows you the report of those individuals who have installed Alexa toolbar on their PC. and I am even quite sure that you have also not installed it on your PC so your site not getting your's Vote too..

Alexa isnt too useful because if people who use your site don't have the toolbar it wont count
