I launched my web design website about 2 months ago and was checking my ranking in various search engines. I am no where to be found on the major engines, and then i come along to search-2-search.com. I am listed #1 for "professional web design" and #7 for "web design". This doesn't make much sense.

http://www.search-2-search.com/extre...es=1&override=

It claims it "Found 7764254 sites for professional web design " and my website is coming up number one.

How did you even come across that search site?

Regardless, I wouldn't worry one bit about making sense of a search engine that no one uses...it won't bring you any traffic what-so-ever.

They could just have a tiny index (don't believe the 7 million + pages indexed claim) or a shoddy search tool...or a combination of both.

Search-2-Search is my search engine/directory and ewebdevelopment was submitted to our directory on 5/21/04. Our search results are pulled from various resources as follows:

When a search is typed into our search engine, it first looks for premium listings, meaning those who have signed up for our pay-per-click services. If it does not find any “paid” results under the specified keyword or phrase, it immediately looks to the Search2Search directory categories for it’s next results, then 3rd party results from our search partners are listed, and last but not least web based or meta search results.

It is a relatively new search engine: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2004/6/prweb137179.htm but and up and coming one
