search engines don't "block" autosubmitters, but if they have more than one-five pages (dependant upon the SE) submitted to their index in a 24 hour period from the same IP, then they see it as spamming / autosubmission.
as the auto submission services, the amateur ones, use the same IP all the time, they quickly get seen, noted, and blocked.
Manual submissions, where each one is done seperately, is a much better idea, as is specific software such as Web Position (something i've used and found very sucessful)
Always recommend manual submissions, as its the very best way to get good rankings.
If you must auto submit, do it to the small engines. Places like Google, Yahoo, Lycos, Altavista, are sufficiently important to warrant a manual submission, it'll only take half an hour, but it'll pay its weight in Gold if you do it right.
