I am focused on these major SE.. but some are the: altavista & ask.. If you want to promote it by countries, then they have some local SE too..

The SE's are now concentrating on being region specific and in times to come shall become even language specific, and yes google in way ahead of the rest.

Beside these I should suggest you to submit your site at eZdia , a search engine which is becoming popular these days and also definitely will soon improves upon the major search engines as it has some good and unique features of Experts , Explorers , Knowledge Bucket etc. |

Hello alex01, If I were in your shoes I wont bother to submit my site to any other search engine as long as my site is already indexed by Google but in case you need to submit your site to a whole lots of search engine, you can use the search engine submittal tool at freewebsubmission.com

Submitting to search engines will be of little or no help. They will get to you if you have done a good seo. So, do concentrate on making your on page effective as possible. Also if you still need search engines for some other purposes search there is a big "List of search engines" in Wikipedia.

Besides these search engines ask.com, AllTheWeb.com, HotBot, AltaVista etc are popular search engines. Search submission is a great way to increase traffic to a site.

Uh - In what year or on what planet?
There is no need to submit sites to search engine these days luckygal.
But if you want to, try WebCEO
Use the submit facilty to submit your sites to loads of SE's (all for free woopy doo).
Please do you will be pleasing the SE's soo much using auto submission software they will love you for it ("Sacrasm" I know not the highest form of wit). |

After looking through my analytics this morning, I get about 3x the traffic from Google as I do from Yahoo, but the traffic I get from Yahoo seems to stay longer, and click on more pages. Also, I rank higher on more competitive terms on yahoo than on google right now.
I for one am glad I don't ignore the possibilities of traffic from ANY SE or resource.  |

Ask is also a good search engine. But don't waste more of your time by submitting your site to SE's. Be focus on getting backlinks. |

I always prefer google only. Besides this some people prefer yahoo, MSN. I donot know other search engine. But google is the best. My site got good result from google.

Besides the main search engines, other ones are those powerful portals like Russia's yandex, China's baidu..., if the website has local language, it is crawled easily.
