The Other Search Engines

i checked my stats and in particular which robots had visited my site

the usual ones where there - googlebot, mozilla etc but what surprised me was there was an instance of a robot called

LinksManager.com

http://www.linksmanager.com is a recipricol links site - why would they have a robot

it doesnt make sense

my theory was that they paid another search engine to call their robot that to get very sneaky sneaky advertising

no idea why that robot would be listed, perhaps it was a mislaid visitor or something, a bug with the traffic program?

incidently, what is the traffic analysis program that that screenshot is taken from? i am still using webstat v2.01 and its very annoying because to find any info on crawls etc. you need to go into the dns_cache.db and search manually, it doesn't give pages, dates...anything!!

so...what is the program you're using for stats, what does it tell you, and how much does it cost, and from where??

Actually they have their own robot. It is used to make sure the people participating in the link exchange actually have their links added on their page. It also looks for dead links.

the stats program is called modlogan and is provided my by hosts as well as webaliser i might add but i prefer modlogan

We are using Webtrends to analyse the logs, they almost can give the color of shirt the visitor was wearing... i think to analyse the logs, it's a very good thing to have..
