redirection URLs aren't a good idea. if the redirection is done with JavaScript, search engine bots don't have JavaScript enabled and thus will NOT follow the redirection.

The best thing to do is to have a PHP silent redirection script and then add a hyperlink to the page at the bottom of the script.

Thus, the browser reads the redirection and takes the person away, but the bots have something to spider, content and links, that will take them to the rest of your site.

this method i have employed many times to great effect, it works for me, and gets me good rankings.

DMOZ don't seem to mind them. I got in with a 'cloaked redirection' (frame) on one of my sites.

Ok what i will actually do is to submit the real URL to search engine and give the redirection one to poeple asking to see my website so they can remeber it easily. I will use that also in board promotion, guestbook signatures, forums signatures or e-mail etc...But i think the real e-mail should do fine with search engine...

Thank you

IMO that is the way to go Umoja..

Although you may just want to consider a new domain to use for both and then redirect your OLD URL.

I would only use redirection as a last resort (and for a couple other reasons on a different matter).

This is off subject but you know how many people will refuse to click on affiliate links (not sure why, unless it is a SPAM). One way is to set up a redirection page on your site for example: yoursite.com/AffiliateProgramName.htm would redirect to affiliateProgramName?1212AffiliateID.

It does it so fast that you can hardly notice it is redirecting.

for Dmoz, if they accept redirections, submit the redirect URL. Thus you get listed in Dmoz under your primary URL and people will come to your site more because they will see a "good" url rather than a geocities one etc. which very few people click on unless they are desperate.

if its a choice between a .com and a geocities address, i choose .com for professionalism, and i'd click on that one first.

you could always put a cloaked URL script in the page so that a different URL appears in the address bar to the one that the person is actually on, thus making them believe that they are still on your high level domain rather than on a free one.

just some ideas for you to consider
