I have spent much time reading the same kind of threads recently and I hope this will be a lot of help to beginners in the field of promotion for entertainment related sites.
I have created a short list of major engines to submit your site to. All these engines/directories are free to submit to and your site should get indexed reasonably fast!
http://www.entergal.com/add - A top entertainment specific engine & directory.
http://www.google.co.uk/addurl.html - A good place to start with.
http://dir.jayde.com/12406.html - A decent directory with lots of categories to choose from.
http://www.xoron.com/ - A less known engine, but gets many entertainment related searches.
http://dmoz.org/add.html - A human edited directory.
This is just from experience, but trust me, if you manage to submit to all of those sites, I bet you will see a massive boost in traffic to your site within a few days.
