Its depend on article content, article submission gives one way link to your site and if your article is good then visitor will read your article and your site traffic will be increase.

Good and unique articles are just a "need" conditions to increase traffic. It would be perfect if they are placed in a high traffic forums with a back link to your site. It will help. if you place your article on the page rank zero sites, I think it will not help you much to increase traffics though yours are very good.

You are right but i get the traffic from article directories there are many article directories which are at top position in the search result.
So some time i also prefer article submission.

I think Article Marketing Is one of cheap & best way for your site promotion.

I think Article submission will not send you direct traffic, it will help you get rank on your targeted keywords and once you got ranking then traffic will come automatically.
