true, having a keyword with less competitor is a good idea but not enough. you need to have at least several main keywords and some long tail keywords and use them all to maximize your sites exposure to SE's.

why don't you try Google keyword generator to see how many competitors you have and other keyword suggestions for you to use for your site.

to meanne,

I suggest you use some long tail keywords because in doing so you can reduce the number of you competitors and the your keyword will be more specific. After that it depends in you SEO methods to maximize the use of that keyword/keywords.

As a new site you should target less competitive long keywords .I agree with Himalayan because blog creation is a very good way to promote a site.

Do you think that is effective? Why don't try high competitive keywords , key phrase? On that i think more chances to get rank ASAP.

On long tail, you should start on low competitive and then proceed to high competitive keywords not long tail.

There are a lot of keyword research tools online. In using them consider keywords that have high daily word searches but low competition.

You should use different keyword tools before deciding what keywords you're going to target. Keywords will play a very vital role in your website's or business' success. So it is very important to pick the right ones.

I suggest you to analyze your website first and then, look for related keyword(s) with high search volume and with low competitors. In that way, you're going to have an easier way optimizing your website but of course, it will take time before you see some results. Just be hardworking and it will soon pay-off. hehe

best of luck

In my opinion, since you have a new site, select a keyword not too competitive enough but with high number of searches. You don't need to select many keywords but focus on the top 5 trophy keywords for that particular campaign for instance. And so on... Just be gradual..
