Tim,
Inktomi likes simple pages - so that page will fit with Inktomi well. Here's some comments though
- The phrase "Webmaster Forums" gets very few actual searches
- Inktomi also uses link popularity to order results
To answer Luke's question
- avoid submission services, especially the ones that offer to list you on a huge number of engines - they are a rip off & can even result in being banned from some engines
- Submit your sites by hand
- To have any success in the SE's that matter you need to do these things
1. Optimize your page somewhat - have each page focus on one or two keywords. Have the keywords in your Title & within the body of your page. Doon't stress over this too much
2. Build links - takes time - but it's a must - try to get links that have your keywords in the text.
3. Build content in your site - This is important for a few reasons - it increases the likelyhood that people will want to link to you, and it increases your opportunity to be seen in SE's
For the different SE / Directories
- Try to get in the Open Directory Project (
www.dmoz.com)
- AOL / MSN - Submit to Inktomi (PositionTech seems to have the easiest interface)
- Google - don't use the site submit - it does absolutely nothing & is only there because people expect it to be there. Google will list your site once it finds you on the web.
- Yahoo - you could try the free submit, but don't hold your breath on that
The main point is build a site with good content, do some optimization of your pages & try to build links....then be patient.
