What do you think is the best free search engine submission service? I have tried one or two but they all said that I had to put one of their banners on my website, but I don't want to do that. Can you help me?

If you know this please tell me: What free site submission service lets you submit to the most websites for free?

You can submit your website to 18 search engines throught AddMe.com for free. They ask for a banner to be place on your site, but if you dont like to put the banner on your site then no need to put as they will still submit your site.

Go to http://www.addme.com/cgi-bin/s0new.cgi and you can do the submission from there.

hope this help.

This helps a lot xtravel, but I would still like to submit it to 30+ sites for free, all at once. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me a site that does that.

id reccomend hand submitting to the major directories as about 90 odd percent of the web uses results from the big guns

it will probably take as long as going through add me's 7 or 8 pages

I agree with fonz. There's really no point in using these. You should be submitting to the top search engines and directories manually, as a submission service will never do as good a job. You should certainly submit to engines and directories like Google, Yahoo, Excite, DMOZ and Teoma, and if you do them maunaully, you might as well just submit to some others.

One idea to make it all a bit easier is to make a text file with all the information you need (URL, Title, Keywords, Description) and then all you need to do is to copy and paste them into the submissino forms. Much faster than typing

good, sound advice as usual there from david.

also, make sure your page is optimised so the search engines LIKE you when they do find you. they won't include you (usually) based on the details you supply, but they crawl your site for information about you and base descriptions etc on what they find.

inclusion in the directories is essential as this will give you a big advantage over many other sites who don't get inclusion.

make sure you submit by hand to the "big guns" as it will definately do you no harm, and could potentially severly improve your traffic if you get the right keywords.

another thing...get sites to link to you. people click to your site through the links, and search engines spider sites through links, so you get listed more and get a better ranking, cause links mean ranks!!

just some ideas on what else you can do...submission is a good idea, addme.com submits you to the big engines i believe, but you need the directories as well, they're ESSENTIAL

thats a little harsh mo...no need for a tone like that

the thread was a genuine question that could help more people that just criper, the purpose of his site (which incidently i havn't looked at yet) is irrelevant in the thread.

the suggestions remain valid no matter what the purpose of his site is. the suggestions were not site-specific, but general and can apply to any site.

please try and keep your comments nice to help maintain a good mood amongst the posters. we're all here cuz we like to build sites, not to have a go at each other
