If keywords are used beyond the required limit, chances are more for a search engine to ban website for spamdexing. If the keywords are less than the required limit, it may hamper the visibility of your website to the search engines.

keywords are important but it is not the MOST important aspect for webmasters or in SEO, for a keyword is nothing if you don't have a good quality content. If someone disagrees with me then prove it.

You need to have quality content, list content related keywords not vice versa as is a common practice, (writing only to attract the bots). Engines always look to provide quality information for the info seekers. Content always wins.

Its another ball game when it comes to specific product marketing (known brands) for which you need to bid to get a decent pr.

I would say keywords and backlinks are both important. Yeah keywords helps in increasing the PR and the site ranking but backlnks will bring the traffic to your site which is also important too.

Yeah, targeting the right keywords on your contentis a great help in your site. Keywords in "meta keywords" attribute is useless. It does not hurt your site if you don't put it.

Keyword is very important in SEO. If you choose the best keyword then its a good chance to get a crawling in google. so make sure that choose a good keyword.
