Microsoft has announced that it will rename its search engine live.com to kumo.com. So in simple view, OfficeLive.com will be renamed as OfficeKumo.com. Is Microsoft really own the OfficeKumo.com domain? Please reply

just do a whois lookup, and you'll know.

Anyway, they won't rename it if they don't own it. So most probably, yes.

I don't understand why they need to rename their SE?

They need to rename their se because msn can't compete with google with the traditional ms bashing. They tried 'live' and that went nowhere. So they are now trying something unique a-la-google. It's short and easy enough to remember. Now they just have to push that name in front of our faces from multiple angles.
