I know that Bing is made by Microsoft, but is Bing replacing MSN totally, or being launched in addition to MSN live.

Yes, Bing has replaced MSN search: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bing_(search_engine)

But I think it's still the same search engine, just dressed in a new design.

MSN is now more of an information portal using bing as it's search engine. Live.com is now bing.com.

Bing is overrated, Live is Bing now but from a new start, I prefer yahoo over bing.

I saw occasional accesses in my log of what had to really be a robot, but merely showed up as bing searches. They were crawling a 1000 times slower than yahoo and google and all of the usual robotic suspects.

Will they speed up? I hope so. It'd be nice to have more sources of traffic.

Yahoo has recently been soaring - I estimate they have gone from a 5% measure (against google's traffic) to a 20% measure - maybe in a few months I'll have more accurate data and can tell better if it really is that much, but it does look, at the moment, with 40+ days of data, as though yahoo is having a big surge - that they've tripled their business in the last 3 months or so, since the fiasco with microsoft, google and some fat gits trying to buy them and tell them to change their name to facebook probably and adopt a new policy of being arses.

So although I'm pleased to see bing existing and making a bit of extra income for us who must be obeyed I'm far more keen to discover how much profit yahoo is adding to my life. If I were a venture capitalist with billions, today I'd have gone to a broker and probably been tempted into buying £100,000 of yahoo shares. If I had any microsoft shares, bing is no reason to not sell them - I'd buy into yahoo ahead of microsoft any day.

But I'd have a long look at sun, ibm, and a few other institutions related to O.S. software and stuff. And security - internet security - an absolutely certain investment - I'd find 10 companies and buy 10k of shares from each.

I heard Bing will replaced MSN but still they are using the name MSN because it is more popular to other users than Bing.

Bing is now better than MSN and it has already replaced live and soon you will see Bing everywhere instead of msn and live. It will create some competition for Google and Yahoo.

Bing is another addition of MSN replacing MSN Live, it provides quality search results to users, unlike Google which gives accurate search results...

^ Yeah right, we have the same situation. That's why I prefer to focus in Google when optimizing my site.

Yeah, MSN Live is now Bing. But I still focus on Google and Yahoo as this two gives more traffic on my site.

Bing seems to have more variables (at least that we can see) in their search algorithm and so far, for me at least, they have given good traffic and relevant hits.

I agree with an earlier post that msn still uses that name because it is a much more popular name...that is very interesting, because I have seen this done by them, but not thought of much until now..

i thought Bing is property of Microsoft ?! If im right it was obvious bing would replace MSN. I heard a rumor that Microsoft would buy Yahoo , if that happens the search engine of Yahoo wont exist anymore.
Bing + Yahoo would be fair competitor to Google .
