Yep I am guessing based on observations and experimantation, and will freely admit that.
However most answers here seem to be based on what shows in Webmaster tools etc.
Just because a link shows up in there ( or not), you should NOT infer or assume that it is used for any purposes by the SE in question.
Why on earth would you assume that a sites own navigation would be discounted? With many site operators it's probably the only links that could be actually trusted as not being manipulative.
However IF you got links for the RIGHT reason you wouldn't even care whether the SEs "counted" them or not.
