I dont think Bing has taken over Google. It is a long way off from google. Google has been accessed every day by a million users every day across the globe. There are so many other things which are make google superior to Bing.

I think Google wont merge with bing for the reason of individuality and competition.

Bing is getting a little more popular, but has a long way to go compared to google. I check it out on occasion, but I just find google results to be a little more relevant than bing. To me it's not great, but it's not terrible either.
