This is really amazing. I have been working for a client's website for the past few days. It ranked quite well in Yahoo but the fact is that the meta title and meta description that are showing in Yahoo search result are no longer existed in reality. I have checked that Yahoo is fetching this information from its directory where this website was listed a year ago. Now what should I do now in this situation?

There is no such thing as a "meta title"

but if you mean that Yahoo! search is showing the title and description for the site using the information from the Yahoo! directory, rather than the ones from the page, that's not something "new". Yahoo! search has done that for many years now (since Yahoo! launched a search engine in fact!

In January/February 2007 Yahoo! implemented a way to stop it happening.

Just add

HTML Code:
<meta name=”robots” content=”NOYDIR”>
<meta name=”slurp” content=”NOYDIR”>
To the pages, only the "home" page should really need it, but it won't harm on every page.

I don't think yahoo etc has the time to visit your site every time it turns up in a search, so it would probably be a good idea for them to actually draw from their own server farms the info, plus if your normal search has a million or so sites in the results it may take search engines a few seconds to verify each and every result.

To get rid your problem just do the following -
1 .create a xml.sitemap and upload in your root of server
2. Create 20 new back link for your website

Yahoo will re-index your website ,old cache will be removed , new information will be stored - new information will be shown in SERP

This appears to be your answer for everything.

Did you bother to actually read the thread before posting your standard "cure-all"?
