Posting on blogs, forums, doing article submissions and submitting press releases don't really provide a lot of traffic. They are mostly useful for backlinks.

If you want to get traffic you might consider submitting your pages to Digg, Delicious, StumbleUpon, Propeller, and Mixx. When I submit one of my pages to those sites I usually get about 30 visits to my site on the same day. It really just depends on the topic though.

If you're site is brand new it might take a while for it to get spidered from the search engines. Are you sure you're putting links back to your homepage with the appropriate anchor links?

You need to make a proper plan for it. Dedicate some time for submissions like directory submissions and article marketing daily. What i have observed is article marketing helps in boosting site faster but make sure you have some informative and good content. Article marketing should be done in article directories that are crawled often. Then work on your social media and social networks. Use document sharing sites too.
