OK some simple but basic things ( that are probably the most important )
- Get backlinks.
Get backlinks to your website ( Ie: get someone with a website like yours, or in your niche to link back to you )
Post articles about your "new product" on blog sites, Twitter etc.
Get reviews.
- Keywords
Do some research for what people are searching for that would best describe your website / content of your website
- Applying keyword knowledge.
Ensure that the content of your website matches your meta keywords and meta descriptions. ( While its not as high value nowadays , Some SE's or other crawlers will look there, So it cant hurt at least )
- Content
If your selling something, make sure your site tries to stay on the same train tracks.
IE: if your selling fish, DONT talk about hoovers.
Anything you do talk about or link to, Ensure that its all fish related.
- Good content.
This is probably the most important thing.
To get visitors, You dont need to stuff keywords, You dont need to trick people.
Just write a good website with the information people will be seeking on it.
Make sure its unique, Well written and makes people come back for more.
You want to write somthing that others havent done, While still staying on the main subject matter.
While i dont class myself as some kind of SEO expert or even an SEO anything.. ( I am awesome though.. )
These steps will help and are probably the best way to go about it.
Its worked for me.
